About the Collins Foundation, Inc.

The Collins Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization that invests in initiatives that improve educational opportunity and strengthen community organizations in Connecticut, with a special emphasis on individuals from under-represented and disadvantaged backgrounds.

Committed to the principle that a quality education ushers in a lifetime of opportunity, the Foundation’s prime directive is to provide support and encourage students from under-represented and/or disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue higher education through the Foundation’s Power of One Scholarship Fund.

The Foundation also works to promote reading and literacy through its Big Read program. The Big Read invites neighbors to read and discuss a single book of American Literature in their communities and experience the transformative power of reading. The Foundation invites authors and actors to our community as often as possible to enhance the reading experience.

Our Foundation hopes to play a central role in our state in the drive to ensure that everyone who has the ability and determination to seek out higher education will have it. We’re nonpartisan and determined to get results!
