MLK Day Celebration Breakfast

In addition to serving as the chief spokesman for nonviolent activism in the civil rights movement, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the world's preeminent advocates of community service. He consistently reminded both our nation and the world that, "Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve."

Each year, the Collins Foundation, Inc. proudly advances Dr. King’s commitment to activism by inviting members of our community to a celebratory breakfast, the proceeds of which are applied toward academic scholarships for its Power of One Scholarship recipients.

Starting in January 2010, the Foundation’s breakfast will also serve as a food drive for area homeless shelters and food banks.

Finally, the King day event includes the presentation of The Power of One Community Service Awards to extraordinary local agents of change who have demonstrated a commitment to positive social change through their actions and initiatives in the greater Connecticut community.
